Traditional Basketry Workshop

In this workshop we will have with us cesteira master Cristina da Fonseca to share one of the oldest craft arts of our country. Previously manufactured up baskets for different crops and products of saloia region (strawberries, vegetable, bread and cheese) they were transported to Lisbon.
Let us know and apply some of the leading basketry techniques running a basket with the bottom fan in buínho (scirpus lacustris).
commonly used in the manufacture of baskets, chairs and mats the buínho is a spontaneous plant in Portugal in wetlands , banks of rivers and lakes.
Acquaint the participants to practice the art of making baskets with the range in background in buínho cesteira along with a teacher who has many years to work this craft. The main objective is to re-learn the traditional crafts with old masters so that this wisdom is not lost between generations.
All who want to learn this traditional art, curiosity or as introductory training and practice for further handmade baskets. It is not necessary previous experience.

Cristina Fonseca is from Cesteiro 1985 and is dedicated to contemporary basketry with a shed. In parallel develops a training activity and dissemination of different plant fibers Portuguese .
